One hour into the crochet.
I got a slow start because for some reason i couldn't figure out how the dcs worked. I mean I've done dcs until the cows come home, but this time, it just didn't make sense.
I am slowing getting the hang of this... I don't feel like the pattern was written very well, ie where she says, ch 2, dc into the chain two, dc [x] stitches, 2dc into the next stitch* then repeat around, should really have been
ch2, dc into the ch2, [dc [x] stitch(es), 2dc into the stitch] repeat twice; dc [x]. (where x is the same number as the first x.) But that's just my opinion.
Yay! Doing the brimm of the hat makes it less dunce like, and more witchy like. It's quite floppy.
I did nothing today but work on this hat... and it's finally paid off. I rather like the hat, and if I was going to wear something like this for halloween it would be a quick hook. the brimm takes forever though... I thought each round was going to kill me. I would have stopped at round 4, since round 5 makes it really really floppy and covers the eyes, but I wanted to follow the directions. Fleur can easily frog the one row if she feels the same as me.
I went with a gray because that was the yarn I bought with me back to Taiwan... it doesn't look half bad as a dark gray witchy hat.
I wasn't thrilled about making this hat, but now that it's all done, i rather like it, it sorta has a novelty feel, PLUS no proper witch can call herself a witch without a proper witchy hat!!
