If you have noticed the little knitmeter on the sidebars of my blog, you will notice that it takes in accounts to what i've knitted this month. I find that since i don't have a weight scale that it's just easier for me to log in the yardage (or meter) when I am at the end of the ball. The yardage is already listed in the ball band, I simply have to copy down the number. this is simply the easiest way to keep track.
So what do i do when I'm NOT at the end of the ball, but I've finished a project? well if it's just a little, I guestimate, but if it's real cruial to actual yardage, then I break out the meauring tape and measure what I have left.
I've also gone as far as measure out the estimated length per row and have done it that way... but that was in the beginning when I didn't know any better.
trust me, just go with the ball band yardage, much easier and much faster... i figure i knit so much anyway that it's not a shame if I lose a few yards here or there.
I mean it's a fun widget anyway, not like there's this knitting police if you fudge your numbers.
