the soothing clicking knitting needles.

I am at the second repeat of the trapped bars for the hotty_blonde2000 Slytherin scarf. I was able to knit about 120mins earlier today. I was on a car ride that i knew was coming up, so I prepared for it. It sure makes the time pass by quicker, and it does help listening to podcasts while i knit...it's another form of background noise, but concentrated on knitting i guess. Listening to Cast-On and this new one called Stick & string. It's a teacher bloke who also knits. his show is only about half an hour, but it's a good change of pace from listening to just girls talk, and then a guy.

Knitting around and around has got it's rhythm...and i think I've got it down pretty good. I scrunch up a block of stitches on the left needle, and a block of stitches on the right needles, and holding the yarn in my right hand, and just knit knit knit until the block on the left needs to be regrouped and i pull out more yarn. There is something in the way that it's done that is soothing, you're almost lost in the rythm of the knitting.

My dad was in the back seat with me when i was knitting on the way back from the factory, he asks me what i'm knitting. I look at it, and held it up, as to explain that it's of course a scarf, what else would i make, but i knew he didn't know that it's a scarf. So i had to say it outloud. "a scarf." i like how my dad asks me what i'm knitting, as if it might be something new next time. but i'm always on a scarf or some sort. I have yet to venture out of the safety zone yet for me. Maybe when i get my sock yarn, i shall make him a pair of socks... i think he would like that.

The rest of the group got their partners all matched up for the end's swap. I am now nervous. I'm sorta treating it like any other potter swap, but this one is suppose to be for the end...

I might venture into getting a color printer for my room when i get the desk... i like to print out stuff, and using the work printer just feels wrong to me. even though i've been doing so before.

In this harry potter mode, i've gone ahead and subscribed to the Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club, it's 50 bucks for 12 cds for 12 months. You get 2 Cds every two months. I heard about this thru the Pottercast when the guy, Paul from Harry and the Potters was guest hosting...it sounded like a good charity cause, and really i spend more than that on cds anyway. Plus the added bonus of being a huge geek, what could be better?

Apparently there has been a whole surge of bands that write songs about Harry potter and hogwarts and etc, and they play gigs at librarys and places.. i just thought it was the nerdiest, yet coolest thing yet.

i have the day off tomorrow, so i think a majority of the time will be devoted to knitting the scarf and other swap that i'm angeling for.
