I knew I'd find you!! A stitch n Bitch group in Hong Kong! I knew they existed... i just had to look for it. hehe. it was simple too, a google search, and BAM!
I joined... said hello, and now it's like i belong. Even though i don't live in Hong Kong and can't meet up weekly to knit, it's still fun. Maybe i can go like once a month or something or twice a month to meet up. Hm, i'd have to look at my schedule and see how that would work out... Maybe once a month would be ok...since twice a month might be a little too much. cuz i'd probably have to still take the train back, and i'm not sure the trains run that late... It would be best if there was a thing that can drop me off nearer to my work as opposed to the train station that takes like 40 mins. well i'll research it.
I sooo want to bring my knitting into work today, it's saturday, and there is absolutely no work for me to do. I suppose i could offer to do manual labor work... that would be fun for awhile... although inappropriate i think to everyone's standard... i on the other hand would just be happy for something to do. u know what i mean.
I am eager to make the sudoku afghan. well u know me, i like to use the same yarn that the pattern calls for, so i might have my brother bring me more yarn when he comes to visit in the summer. I'll just have to purchase them, and have them shipped to the house. I think i'm going to substitue a few colors. Also i think i'm going to use the sparkly white that cyn gave me for the afghan too, and the greens that i ordered for the slytherin scarf, i'm going to set aside two skeins for the afghan, and also i think i'm going to set aside the 2 skeins of gray for the afghan too, so now i'm just left with 4 skeins of the green that i don't know what i should do with, but I'm thinking... there's this color spectrum project and one of the the colors for the month of april and may is green, so maybe for that... i'm thinking, an army of frogs. how cute would that be!?

Sugar and Cream!
Working with Cotton is hard, it's not slippery like wool or acrylic like i'm used to. It's rather a stop and go process. I wonder how i can make it to be smoother on the hook.
I thought I'd break up my montony in knitting, and do crochet today. I'm hooking up a swap item. It's my first time working with cotton and it's very slow, especially now that i've learned the real way to work the foundation chain, as oposed to the wrong way... it's even slower, and i hate working the foundation chain even more.

just to break it up
i've been staring at this pattern in the knit.1 magazine for awhile, it's the Sudoku afghan. What a cute idea huh? i thought i'd start on it... here's my first small square. It's the wool-ease in a buttercup color like it said. My tension is a little off, the bottom is a lot tighter than the top, but i think with a little stretching when joining the afghan it shall be ok. Now i just gotta get the rest of the 9 squares... Here's to the start of the afghan.
It's not hard either, and a real quick crochet for one square. Like an hour each. Ok... so maybe not that quick, but i just wanted to stop and count each row making sure i had 18 dc, and also i had to stop and spend 5 mins trying to figure out how to chain 18 sc evenly into 10 rows. that took a while of counting...
plus I had the hook all handy, it was a 2 sided one. a #10 hook & a #8 hook as one! Makes things so simple seriously!!
let's afghan it up eh.
Pet Peeve
ok... I have a Craftster Pet Peeve...didn't think it was possible but there it is.
I dislike it when someone comments just for the sake of leaving their mark, so that it would show up in their new posts page if someone new posted pictures. That really irks me. So it's like you have to scroll thru the first page to then get thru the useless comments to see the pictures. It's like it's a discussion page or a swap topics page, but I think for galleries, it should be mainly for posting pictures of what you received and comments on those, and before any of actual pictures starts happening, it should just be left empty until at least the first pictures are posted.
that is just my rant. rant over.
on to happier things. I thought of another idea for The End swap. I actually have a couple swimming in my head, but I'm reluctant to try/test it out until I am finished with the scarf. As of today's noon count, I am officially half way thru the scarf. On my way to the 8th trapped bar, having finished the 7th repeat of it. yay!
i really want to give cable a try, my last cable fiasco didn't go so well... it failed. Maybe after the scarf, i'll try out cables.

just one more row
so it's supremely late, and I should be sleeping, but I just can't help myself, I tore into the Slytherin scarf.
I keep just wanting to knit one more row, I am on the 7th repeat of the trapped bar.
i'm getting more used to holding the weave in yarn in the left hand, and weaving it in as i go, but i didn't try to jogless jog again. The jogless jog was giving me issues, so maybe i will work one new technique at a time. i have a couple more of color changes, so it will give me more time to practice these skills.

Look at all the Goodies!!
This is what I got from rockmygypsysoul for the Hogwarts House swap. It finally arrived, and in my hands after a whole weekend of trying to get it from the post office here in China. Boy was it a hassel for it. But, man was it worth it. I wasn't as excited when the package got into my hands, but when I opened it up. Man! Was I super excited.
I love the painted shoes, the shirt, and hallow textbook and the bag. It's just great! All the little details... wow, I'm so amazed.
what a great swap.
The bag is proudly being hung by my bookcase, and the book is holding up the tallest shelf, and the shoes on also on display.
i heart is all!

i loaded up some pictures from previous posts, the asparagus rowan yarn sweater coat gauge, and the yarn pictures. I was going to post another WIP picture of the Slythern Scarf, but i didn't think it was that interesting to show a scarf... I mean the scarf doesn't get exciting until it is done. (well a blog is only as exciting as its pictures!)
Here's the swatch of the Rowan Chrisse sweater jacket i'm trying to knit. I was just browsing thru the Rowan pattern book, and i immediately saw the Chrisse jacket sweater that i know i must knit. So i bought the yarn in the asparagus color, & the pattern book. I would have gotten it in a different color but the yarn store had only this and other awful colors like fuschia. although i like fuchsia, as a long jacket sweater coat i think it's just a bit too much. The asparagus i think is more tolerable no?

oh although i might how the weave the ends in and the trying of the jogless jog thing. so far the jogless jog is not working very well for me, the weaving in... also only half working.

Above is where I tried to jogless jog plus the weaving in the ends as I knit...it didn't go as well as you can compare to the picture below where it's all nice and neat even though there's a "jog".

ONE box of yarn
Now that all the yarn i ordered arrived, i forgot what i ordered them for...
well i remember that i ambitiously ordered the peruvian wool from elann in Hufflepuff house colors for the carolyn.

I know I ordered some sock yarn for the bmp i was going to make myself, but then i looked at the pattern more carefully and realised that it was a one size only, and it's for a women's large/men's medium sized feet. i definitely don't have women's large feet...

There is also the Slytherin house yarn that i was going to make a scarf out of, but the green is more bright green then the dark green that i got, and the gray is a lighter more silvery gray. But i've already got started on the slytherin scarf, so now what can i make with these extra amount of slytherin house color yarn?

I know I ordered cotton yarn, so i'm thinking of a knitted wash cloth or something for the swap...
i think i just ordered extra sock yarn so that's why i'm confused.

and i know the boucle yarn is for the afghan for me.

ok so maybe i do remember what i got the yarns for.

half way there almost!
i spent a good part of this evening working on the PoA scarf. I got one full trapped bar done, and on my way to the next trapped bar.
i think i am getting a hang of the changing of the colors, and fixing that large gap in the stitches... i just pull it tighter, and make it uniform like the rest of the stitches.
if i just keep up knitting one trapped bar a day, then i'll be able to finish this in no time.
as for the rest of the package, i've packed it and it's all ready to be mailed. where i mail it out just depends on if i get to go to HK this week, i'll talk to eric tommorrow. If i get to go, i'll send off part one of the package this week, then when i get the scarf finished, i'll mail that out in taiwan. If i don't go to taiwan, then I'm going to send it back with my dad, and have my mother mail it for me from taiwan.
as for the stashbusting angel... i'm lagging on it. perhaps due to the fact that i didn't sign up for it... i was thinking i finished the beanie, and i'm going to give her the left over yarn, cuz there's a large amount still... maybe i can make something else that's a quick crochet for me. and then send it off. since it's stashbusting, i can also send yarn, that's ok too. hm... i think i have other ideas....
yay for ideas.

i heart gauge
just thought i'd break up the boring stockingnett stitch and knit more stk. I thought i'd cast on and gauge the long sweater from rowan... i'm suppose to be getting 7 st to 10 rows, but i'm getting 7.5 sts to 9 rows... i don't know how to adjust it... or if i can just leave it alone.
maybe i can post the question or seek it on craftster...
i don't know why i thought i'd start on this... it's not like i don't have enough things i should finish before i cast on for this one...

sneak peak
have been picture less for awhile... thought i'd spice it up a little. this is how far i've gotten on my scarf so far.
the knitting has been slow...
so while i couldn't get thru the knitting today, i worked on some other parts of the end swap. I was able to get a whole bunch of stuff at Muji that had the apporiate green & silver, and i thought i'd draw on it to make it Slytherin appropriate. Sadly my drawing skills suck. SO.... i hope she does not mind my horrible drawings and finds them adorable instead. ( i really suck at drawing.)
I'm thinking of sending these ahead of the rest of the stuff....
I've already fotographed the things... hm. but i'm not going to post it incase she reads my blog... i know i said it's swap spoilers, but really i don't mind spoilers that much.. it's still a surprise when i see it!!!!!
cheerio.
the soothing clicking knitting needles.
I am at the second repeat of the trapped bars for the hotty_blonde2000 Slytherin scarf. I was able to knit about 120mins earlier today. I was on a car ride that i knew was coming up, so I prepared for it. It sure makes the time pass by quicker, and it does help listening to podcasts while i knit...it's another form of background noise, but concentrated on knitting i guess. Listening to Cast-On and this new one called Stick & string. It's a teacher bloke who also knits. his show is only about half an hour, but it's a good change of pace from listening to just girls talk, and then a guy.
Knitting around and around has got it's rhythm...and i think I've got it down pretty good. I scrunch up a block of stitches on the left needle, and a block of stitches on the right needles, and holding the yarn in my right hand, and just knit knit knit until the block on the left needs to be regrouped and i pull out more yarn. There is something in the way that it's done that is soothing, you're almost lost in the rythm of the knitting.
My dad was in the back seat with me when i was knitting on the way back from the factory, he asks me what i'm knitting. I look at it, and held it up, as to explain that it's of course a scarf, what else would i make, but i knew he didn't know that it's a scarf. So i had to say it outloud. "a scarf." i like how my dad asks me what i'm knitting, as if it might be something new next time. but i'm always on a scarf or some sort. I have yet to venture out of the safety zone yet for me. Maybe when i get my sock yarn, i shall make him a pair of socks... i think he would like that.
The rest of the group got their partners all matched up for the end's swap. I am now nervous. I'm sorta treating it like any other potter swap, but this one is suppose to be for the end...
I might venture into getting a color printer for my room when i get the desk... i like to print out stuff, and using the work printer just feels wrong to me. even though i've been doing so before.
In this harry potter mode, i've gone ahead and subscribed to the Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club, it's 50 bucks for 12 cds for 12 months. You get 2 Cds every two months. I heard about this thru the Pottercast when the guy, Paul from Harry and the Potters was guest hosting...it sounded like a good charity cause, and really i spend more than that on cds anyway. Plus the added bonus of being a huge geek, what could be better?
Apparently there has been a whole surge of bands that write songs about Harry potter and hogwarts and etc, and they play gigs at librarys and places.. i just thought it was the nerdiest, yet coolest thing yet.
i have the day off tomorrow, so i think a majority of the time will be devoted to knitting the scarf and other swap that i'm angeling for.

fustrating yarn
i made no progress today. I was trying out new things, and i guess i just have no patience for testing out new things today.
sigh. maybe should have stuck with knitting the scarf instead, i'd have actually gotten somewhere instead of hitting the lull.
I thought i'd start on fill's halloweenie beanie... the black yarn is really hard to see.
tomorrow, i think i'm going to be taking a car ride to our other company, so maybe i'll bring along some knitting and crochet to pass the time. oooh. i should upload all the cast on podcasts and the pottercasts that i dled.
i enjoy some of the podcasts more than others.
as for the stash busting extravegansa, i don't know what to tackle next. i had thought maybe i'd go for the mittens that i made fill for zatigmama... it's a quick crochet really, but i just wasn't being patient with it today i guess. Maybe tomorrow.
maybe tomorrow things will look brighter and i won't be as grumpy.

Bandwagon
i think i'm going to make the ever so populat Fetching from Knitty.com for all my friends. I've picked out colors for them too.
V. Black
C. Rose
E. Brown
Me. Teal
should you have a want for a different color, speak up or forever hold your piece. Feel free to pick up the appropriate yarn for the project should you want to save me the trouble of purchasing them, you'd need 2 skeins (balls) of the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. I'm hoping maybe that the Black sheep knittery will have them on sale...
I think i'm going to practice a pair first before I dive into the good stuff. I haven't purchased the yarns yet..but soon. So this is a good small project to break the monotony of knitting the PoA scarf.

boring knitting stuff
more progress on the slytherin scarf. did one more trapped bar type. I apparently knit better when it's later. But man it's late and so i should head off to sleep.
so far the packages being sent to China are not arriving... I'm going to have them check at the post office tomorrow. Oddily, I am not worried about taiwan mail being lost, but i am supremely worried about the china mail being lost. probably due to the fact that our address has no real road or number, just a general area. haha. we're so ghetto here.
i still have the angel package to send out...I should work on that tomorrow so that i can mail it out soon, i'm thinking i'm going to send it expedite mail cuz i want it to get there sooner than later.
I might have to stop doing swaps that involves me sending out whilst in china.. which is hard cuz now i'm here most of the time.
maybe i can stop doing swaps for awhile too after this hogwarts one. and the angel...
i just want cool yarn from the US. I guess if I worked in the US, i would not be able to afford the yarn... which is quite ironic huh?
ok... sleep. beauty sleep.

Progress.
have made nice progress for the Slythrin scarf. Got thru the first repeat of the PoA. the color changes was a bit scary for a bit... but i got over it, and realised that I don't have to twist the yarn, and bring it up because the scarf is knitted in a tube, and i can just hide the yarn bring over inside the tube. hehe.
blocking looks like it might be needed... I shall see when i'm a bit further.
The gray looks a bit bluish heather, as opposed to gray... but maybe it's still ok.
the Jaeger matchmaker is a DK weight, so it's thinner than the first PoA scarf I made, the stitches look neater in the small stitches.
But seriously the knitting in such small needle takes forever...
Today I have been knitting with PodCasts, Cast-on & the PotterCast. I must say the Cast-On podcast is a lot more interesting than the PotterCast. When compared to how into the books the Pottercast people are and me, i'm just sooo not into the books, plus i find their chatter about harry potter not that interesting. I suppose I never thought that deeply into the books... maybe i should keep knitting to Cast-On...it's interesting enough.
knitting in the round is going ok... but the addi circs are really slippery... and i need to make sure the stitches don't fall off when i'm using the row counters.

i can't resist a yarn sale!
So I tallied up my yarn spendage... seeing how much the yarn cost, and compared it to the online prices...and i definitely scored. well at least i got them for cheaper than i totally would have if i purchased it online from the US websites and then have them shipped here. I suppose it's cuz the stores were having a 20% off sale... and so i totally scored. even without the discount the jaeger yarn at 41HK ($5.25USD) is still a steal. Can you imagine, all this yarn just sitting there waiting for someone to purchase them?!?!
and the Rowan Big Wool that i got? $78HK ($10.00USD) how much better does that get? compared to $14.95 USD yarn.com prices...okay so webs ( yarn.com) gives you a discount of 25% if you purchase over $120... but at $10 at GB Woollen... I don't need the discount, and i still scored.
I am defintely looking at HK yarn in a different light!!
Yay HK.
getting detained in Hk for an extra day doesn't look to be so bad now!!

i am determined to get it right!!
it just occured to me that i didn't bring knitting with me on the way to HK to past the time on the train... odd. I could have used the nice distraction that is.
the knitting in the round is taking it's toll on me. casting on too many stitches always gets to me, and making sure it's not twisted is hard.
this will be my third try. I've done the gauge patch... then test one. left too much string for the long tail cast on... it's ok really, but then i didn't make sure it's not twisted, so it twisted... i did like 7 rows or so... before i realised this. had to frog it.
then 2nd try... cast on and work back and forth on stockingnett... hm... somehow i skipped a stitch and then it's not missing a stitch or something... i can't describe it, and i don't know how to fix it... so i'm going to have o frog it again... sigh
it always just takes me forever to start this scarf.
third time's a charm. I think i'm going to do the cable cast on and then just make sure it's not twisted.. i'm determined to knit in the round for this scarf!!
the knitting in the round is taking it's toll on me. casting on too many stitches always gets to me, and making sure it's not twisted is hard.
this will be my third try. I've done the gauge patch... then test one. left too much string for the long tail cast on... it's ok really, but then i didn't make sure it's not twisted, so it twisted... i did like 7 rows or so... before i realised this. had to frog it.
then 2nd try... cast on and work back and forth on stockingnett... hm... somehow i skipped a stitch and then it's not missing a stitch or something... i can't describe it, and i don't know how to fix it... so i'm going to have o frog it again... sigh
it always just takes me forever to start this scarf.

not so local LYS or BUST
(if you wanted to click on the little thumbs of the yarn pictures, you can read the captions of the yarn.)
OK, so I purchased way more yarn then I was suppose to... spent a lot of money... like $400.00 USD about... but oh man, did i love it.
I sorta felt like I was rushed at the Paris cotton place, cuz the guy just stands there over you and watch you decide the whole time, and sorta felt like he had a can you hurry it up vibe. So i just got the yarn for the scarf for the swap, and then i remembered i was going to get the beanie colors for fill, and that was all i got. I purchased Jaeger yarn 100% wool.
because i had one more accidental day in HK, i decided to venture out to Taikoo Shing and visit GB Woolen. Am i so glad I did, I got some self-stripping yarn, and a some Rowan Big wool, and a rowan big wool pattern book to work on this sweater coat that i liked in it. I purchased a lot of yarn at GB woollen. Due to the fact that i can just stand there and ponder if i really like it. I rather like the experience of being able to touch the yarn, and horde it and think about it. Not like all the yarn store clerks aren't nice, but it's sorta hard to look around when there is barely any room in the store to stand, which is the case at the new style yarn shop where there is little room for the amount of people at the store.
And, most of the yarn stores don't really carry proper sock yarn. they just tell me that i can use cotton...well one store had a sign that they didn't teach how to make socks, the other said they didn't carry it...and the other one i plain didn't ask.
so that's to say, i'm happy that I joined the sock club of the month with pickupsticks... at least i have sock yarn ordered...although i'm not getting it until later.
My brother's coming to visit in June, so he'll probably just bring that over with him. the other yarns that i've ordered thru joanns, and etc are being mailed tomorrow directly to me instead of being airported to taiwan, then mailed here. a cut in the steps... i hope it gets here quickly.
speaking of packages, I should try to find a box, and mail out the stashbusting angel package. It's going to take awhile to get there. I wish there was a quicker way to mail stuff out.a quicker way that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
all this yarn talk is sexy... and i'm so happy from all the yarn purchases... if you're lucky, maybe i'll post pictures of all the lovely yarn when i get back to the room!!

Craft it up!!
i'm going craft shopping tomorrow into Hong Kong. I wish i knew it better so I would know where all the good craft stores are. Hm. well i guess i can look thru my HK guide that i bought.
i bought a clear plastic bin for my yarn today. I'm thinking of purchasing more clear plastic bins for use... they are mighty useful to hold things. One big swoop... and we're contained. Nice huh?
i got my hogwarts swap partner (Slythrin) today, and the angel for the stashbusting swap.
excited!! can't wait to craft it up!!

yo yo yo
this is a great way to finish all those tiny tiny left over yarns that you have from the projects. cuz it only takes like a tiny tiny bit. you're suppose to assemble these to make an afghan... it's going to take awhile, and all that weaving in, but i think it would be a fun long term project.
these little things are called yo-yos. so far i've only made as much as i have pictured, and i'm storing them in a left over mcdi cup...
i've already put in the thought that i want to go to Hong Kong this weekend. I think i'm going to go on Sunday. I shall tell the boss, to see if he can spare me... HK LYS here i come!!

eBeanie
ok... so this one has a bit of pink, a bit of grey... If you wear it with the joints at the back, the pink shows up pretty well. I am showing you both sides of the beanie so you can get a feel for it. It only takes me about an hour and a half now to make these things. Cool huh?
Material: Cheval Blanc Baya ( 50g, 90m) Col 71.
Tool: Clover #8
I used up almost the entire 90m skein... I'm not sure how much 1 m is... so I can't give you exact measurements, but 90m is enough for one beanie, and should you want to strip it with another color... go ahead!!
I chose to use one skein this time.
Perhaps it's time for me to challenge myself again, I'm getting pretty comfortable with these one skein beanies...
i want to make socks... but i'm waiting for my yarn!!

purple people eater
Another purple green striped Beanie not for esther. I have started on her Gray Beanie out of the yarn that i had, but it looked ugly... however i think I have a pink grayish yarn that will work for esther, since she wanted gray with pink stripes. I'm going to hook it up, and see how it looks, if it looks ok, I shall give it to esther.
I thought i'd make these for the sweat shoppe swap... but I don't know if people would want them...

Beanie 6

Out of no where, I've acquired a lot of purple yarn... it's a good thing i don't hate purple like some people... purple and green yarn... so what's a girl to do, but to make purple and green beanie.... so i guess this is the first of the purple and green beanie. I changed the stripes a bit... I started stripping right when i got to 55 stitches, and made the bar in the middle 2 rows instead of 1 row.
Materials:
Vintage Tweed (42% New Wool, 56% Acrylic, 2% Viscose, 50g, 90m) Col #305
Cleckheaton Country 8 ply Naturals (85% Pure Wool, 10% Acrylic, 5% Viscose, 50g, 100m) Col#1834
Clover #8 Hook.
test test!!
After the Gryffindor crochet beanie... i was trying out the double knitting on a dark mark graphic... the double knitting technique, although i know how to do it, just goes too slow for me, plus it just doesn't look as good as i like it. Perhaps if I got better at it... so maybe this next time i won't go for the double knitting again.
I was going to try the tubular scarf... but i couldn't find my circs, and... i didn't know what colors to use it for. Maybe i'll use the white yarn (MC) that Cynthia gave me with some other color as a CC...
I also tried to crochet the dark mark into something... but i ran out of yarn, but i think i'd be able to crochet it into a bag. The original was suppose to be a knitted bag, but I don't do the color changes well on a knitted project.
the end of potter swap has been pushed back to march 23 for end of sign up, and april 23 for mail out date. Excited!! I just hope I get everything done on time to mail out on time in taiwan... it would be extremly embarassing if i sent out late again!!
bed time.

Hogwarts House Beanie
Ok... so I have sooo much yarn left over from the Hogwarts swap, and my next Hogwarts swap is supposedly Slytherin, sooo I'm thinking, I'll use the Gryffindor colors to practice for the next swap, so... there you go!!!!!
A Hogwarts Gryffindor PoA style Beanie. It's a little big for my head... I only really need to do like 13 rounds, but I did 14 rounds cuz the one row in the MC just looked not as right. I think if I'd make it for a person with a smaller head like mine, I'd just go ahead and shift up the rows one when the stripe changes begins. Maybe I'll send this to my gryffindor swap partner anyway, as a surprise. hehe.
I am mad for these Beanies... they are such quick crochets!! like 2 hours and BAM, one beanie!!
Yarn: Lanas Stop Dakar (70% Acrylic, 15% Mohair, 15% Wool, 100 grs, 124m/135yds) Col: #815 (the cranberry red.)
a japanese brand with a picture of a kitten on it (100% wool, 50g, 112m)

this might be my favorite thing i hooked up!!
(this is me accidentally pretending that i'm a model.)
So on the accidental trip to Milkfed, i ran across the black sheep knittery, and i bought a whole bunch of these expensive debbie Bliss Alpaca silk skeins. I bought like 4 or 5 of different colors of sorts. I didn't find a use for it until now... i know i said i wasn't going to crochet for awhile, but i couldn't help it... i wanted to practice knitting the owl beanie, but i didn't cast on enough stitches...so crochet it is.
Material: Debbie Bliss alpaca silk, 80% Baby Alpaca, 20% silk, 65 m/50g using a Clover 8(5mm) hook.
It is made with 2 skeins of the grape, 1 skein of the pink. Although i think i could have used just one skein each of the grape color and the pink, but since one of the skeins i had wasn't a full skein, i had to break into the second one.
i interchanged the pink because i think the grape was too overwhelming...i sorta carried the yarn up the inside, although i didn't need to because i could have made it reversible otherwise... but i like the side that shows.
the skeins that i had were tiny... so it was hard to think of smaller projects for it... but this beanie based on the boy beanie is a great way to use the small skeins!! I still have some pink and the purple yarn left over... I think I'd be able to crochet another one using it!!
twice the fun!!
I am involved in another hogwarts swap... this time, my swap partner will most likely be slytherin... I've already ordered the yarn from Joanns, but i'm not sure it's going to get to me in time, cuz I still gotta wait for abraham's dad to come back to taiwan, and then for abraham to mail it to me... who knows how long that's going to take. I'm hoping I can get it by the week of 19-24 march, if not... I'm going to have to make a trip to HK to purchase the needed yarn is what i've decided. well, i guess i'll have a better idea of when abraham's dad will be back next week. i shall ask my sister again towards the middle end of next week... plus i gotta wait for the actual yarn to arrive at my house first... i'm hoping it will get there in time... i hope i hope i hope. so here's what i decided... the yarn doesn't arrive in time by when the sign up period closes, i shall make a weekend trip to HK and try to find matchable yarn.
ok... i'm so not going to mail things out from china anymore... if i can help it...or if people didn't mind waiting like 20 days for receiving it for regular mail. who knew it was soooo slow. Maybe it would be much eaiser if i took it into HK... hm. that's an idea.

i'm an addict!
ok... don't laugh, but i bought more yarn. i know i tried to limit, but...i couldn't help it. i shop when i'm feeling stressed... which doesn't help my debt cause.

i was going to want to try the knitscene central park hoodie... but i figured, I already ordered the yarn for this... that maybe i'll hold off on it. Perhaps I'll just trade for the pattern... yes, i shall do that!!

this time around...
ok attempt 2 at the ginny weasley hat... i ran out of the gold, so i used the cranberry color i had left over from the scarf to make it. It looks sorta weird. Maybe not so weird after I put in the ribbons and extra yarn. This time, the hat is not a yarmika... it actually fits on my head.

i like how the hat is wider at the bottom... nice job goldfishgirl!!
did more rows on my scrap blanket... it's slow going. I wasn't going to crochet for awhile due to my right wrist is feeling odd.
i was going to practice knitting the new house scarf for my new hogwarts swap in the round... but i think with the hat... it went ok... the scarf should be easier cuz i don't have to decrease or anything at all. practice practice.
i've also ordered a whole bunch of yarn, from Joann's, from pick up sticks, and from elann. joann's for the scarf, pickupsticks for these cool socks on knitty, and elann for the cardigan... future projects.
i just hope the yarn gets here on time. i'm going to have to email my sister.

3 more
i saw that other people were hurriedly finishing up their 100 atc themes, and it gets me all competitive. I looked at the list and did 3 more. I think my atcs are all really gloomy and depressing. I don't have the pictures, but they can be considered done as of right now, but i shall go home and embellish them later.

my first blanket
for today's crochet project... I am tackling a scrap blanket/afghan. I was going to make a ripple blanket, but i can't get the ripple effect correctly... It's not rippling correctly, so I am just using a dc st on the rows. and i've come to hold two strands together, and when one strand runs out, i just blend the other color in... it's quite unique.
it's going to be so ugly that it's cute. i'm going to use up all the extra yarn that i don't feel like using, or don't know where i should use it for... i guess this will be an ongoing wip...
i just keep thinking one more row, one more row... but it's an never ending blanket... so the one more row just keeps me up later then i should be.

progress!!! now Done!!
i finished the body of the bag, and "finished" one side of the handle flap... it's not perfect, but it works... and sewing on the handle wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.
i am taking a break from the second side...
too distrought work right now.
*****
I am finished with the fat bottom bag!!

2 day project on Dralon yarn, used about 4 balls. using #7 needle.
I use a scrap pink yarn for the threading contrast, and then also to make the flower.
i like this bag. It's easy, and so many possibilities..
crochet is so much faster for me... plus i'm actually using the patterns from the patterns that i got. I suppose i got the book specifically for this bag, so that shouldn't be such a surprise.
all my projects are stashbusters. I have lots of yarn now!!

100 themes
just when i thought wow 100 atcs... sooooo difficult! BAM!
I did 3. allbeit is a little crude and raw and black sharpie style... i like the feel of it. Very sketch book rough idea. ( i came back home and added these stickers i purchased earlier... i like the new version!)
i don't have my camera on me at the moment to photograph them... but i think I'm going to have the 100 themed atc be up for trade. Obviously I can't trade the ones that i've received...
only 97 more to go!!
hm... it is true, only the sad and miserable fuels creativity.
I'm adding the themes here so that i can use this as a cross out and post my atcs here.

personal challenge
I like to keep busy with creative things, and pretend that i'm artsy & creative that way. Have taken it upon myself to do the 100 themes ATC challenge.
So far i've done none of the 100.
ATC is just like cutting and pasting for me..since i can't draw even though i tried in college.
I worked on a few more rows of the fat bottom bag last night before i went to bed....got to the decreases. I hope i'm doing them right. AND well honestly, i never know if a project will turn out ok or not until i've finished it.. so... here's to tackling projects with fever.

i can't sew to save my life!!
i think i said early that i'd tackle the fat bottom bag with the green dralon yarn that i got. I'm currently on row 30.. there is 52 rows in all... so far it's just looking like a large sheet of nothing... I'm taking a break also from the crochet cuz my wrist is starting to hurt... i guess i have to rest til tomorrow... hm. But I really want to finish it or at least finish all the rows before the handle flap.
Hm. maybe i should not have picked this bag since I have to supposedly sew in a lining... and i suck at sewing.
maybe i can pass it off to someone else to sew it for me. hehe.

Here's the ATC that Teeisme help me brainstorm up!

It's for katxena's PAT ATC R2: Vintage Travel. The ATC name is... "Games you play on a boat" But I shudda named it, Are we there yet?!
Here are little thumbs of the pick your partner swap for Feb. irid3sc3nt and I decided to trade. She will make me 3 knitting needles with custom tops for 3 pairs of crochet maryjanes.
Here's what I made for her.
Saturday, March 3, 2007
I'd have them mailed out by now, but my mother does not realise that it really needed to go out on the 3rd of march. She thought Monday would be ok...even though I said it needed to go out on the 3rd!!!
