can you guess what this is?




It's one of those hand warmers back in the days where ladies wore petticoats, and bonnets. this started out as a fingerless glove project, but it was too big for one hand...(I gagued it and everything...) so I thought hey, i'll just pick up more stitches on the sides...and somehow came up with this... i like it. It's different.

I was trying to think up of more things to make with my chunky yarn...and that was all i came up with. I am so lost without the internet to give me ideas.

Chunky Yarn...insipre me. Or else, i'll just have to make 2 more pairs of slippers.

Directions to Follow...

Handwarmer

material:
lion brand wool-ease chunky 1 skein
US 10 knitting needle
crochet hook 8
tapestry needle.

directions:

Cast on 28 sts.

garter st for blank inches.

BO leave a LONG end for slip stitching purposes.
slip stitch the vertical way to make a round.
use the crochet hook now.
pick up sts with a crochet hook around the two open edges.
sc around about 26 chains.
sc around again.
R3: decrease the chains by sc, 2sc tog all around
r4-6: sc all around.
FO.
repeat for other side.

weave in ends, and your done!!

Helen's Scarf ~ 100 %

Made from two color: Cranberry & Heather Pink...I don't remember the brand of yarn, but probably lion-brand in worsted weight.

this scarf could have been made from two full skeins...I only had partials left over from various other projects, so it's hard for me to tell how much yarn is used.

the stripes are a bit different since i mistaked it...it's basically a harry potter crochet pattern with a bit tweaked. It's because I was running out of the darker color, so I had to switch it up mid stripes to the opposite way...it still turned out ok!

The basic HP Crochet scarf is as follows:

Chain 26.

*Work 6 DC rows of Main Color.
Work 1 DC row of Second Color.
Work 2 DC rows of Main Color.
Work 1 DC row of Second Color.*

Repeat ** 14 times.

Work 6 DC rows of Main Color

Weave in ends, add fringe in Main Color.

( I didn't write the pattern, it was a pattern i found on another person's LJ...i didn't keep track of where i found it, thus can't give proper credit.

Finally weaved in all the ends last night. I had a few left, and had to push thru the pain...i hate weaving in the ends. Perhaps next time, I won't leave so many out!

this is my first crochet scarf, it was so easy as compared to knitting...by easy i mean quick. It's a very quick for me to crochet. I whip these babies out in no time!

I think i'll pack another package to be sent to the US...

p.s. Pattern as follows...it's actually a lot harder to write out than to just see it, and work it.

Abraham's Scarf ~ 100 %

I quickly crochet up a scarf for Abraham last night. I used up one skein of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky that I was going to make the leg warmers with in knit1.

It's a dark gray, Charcol, and it is crochet up with using a DC with a chain of 200. I just repeated it like 4 rows...or until the skein was diminishing, and I couldn't fit another full row on it.

only took like two hours i'd think.

after i crochted it up, i'm not sure he would wear it...as a. guys don't wear scarves, and b. i'm not sure it's that cold that he would need one. hm.

but if not the scarf, what could i possbily make him?

Pattern is as follows:

Abraham's Scarf

Material:

1 skein of Lion's Brand Wool-Ease Chunky in Charcol
1 I/9 5.5 mm crochet hook
1 tapestry needle

Directions:

Chain 202. (or shorter depending on how long or short you'd like it.)

DC into second chain from hook and into every chain til you reach the end, turn.
repeat until you have four rows. Fasten off.
Should you want to have a thicker scarf, just attach another skein of yarn.

i need more yarn!

two more days of yarn diet...it's killing me. I went to my LYS the other day...they had these off fuzzy ball yarn that looked fun! my LYS' colors were a bit mute, but that could be because i was there during the night...

i didn't look too much around cuz i didn't want to be tempted to buy...i was in there to buy a threading needle...i lost the one lent to me.

The store didn't have labels of what yarn it is...so I'll probably have to ask the lady that owned the store...it seemed like the good yarn was in the back. They also had some funky yarn that was made up of balls. I might have to buy some of those to see what i'd do with it.

well onto more yarn talk. Three skeins of the Quick & Chunky was brought over to me...in dark gray. It's really thick yarn...It had a pattern for a hat on there, I decided to swatch it with my No. 10 needles to see if it would work as a substitue. If not, I shall take it to make the crochet version of the calorimetry.

I continued weaving in the ends to Helen's Scarf...boy is it taking forever...as it turns out, I could have just carried the yarn when it's one row of color change...but the thing is...i'm working on it with turns...so when i turn it...I have to use the new color...am i suppose to twist the color change at the last stitch? I think this is something i'll have to think about.

went into my LYS...it's ran by a darting/mousey looking lady...but no matter she carries thin yarn that i can touch...I shall be visiting again that's for sure...it's not as nicely kept, like there's no readily readable label...so i'm guessing I'll have to ask around. Maybe I'll take our cook with me. She seems friendly and happy.

Here are Cynthia's Fuzzies! Made from her what was her Leg Warmers. I had enough left over to make a solid scarf. When I say solid...i mean it's thick. i hope some good use gets out of it, since it hasn't been cold lately anywhere!

I also have no more yarn here in China...except maybe scraps left over from these various projects...I am having my yarn stash sent with some warmer clothes...it's a good thing because i think i'd have to crack and buy yarn...only 4 more days...i can hang in there! i think.

so tonight, i am weaving in the numerous ends of the Helen scarf...there are many due to the color changes & what not. I'm hoping the end weaving will last me the whole night so that at when tomorrow comes, i can start on a new project.

I suppose I will search for what i should make next. I have a couple of choices... the calimetory from knitty, a cupcake purse from crochetville...

I am suppose to be making a scarf for Abraham...but actually i don't know if he would wear it? what else could i make a guy?

Third time's a charm!!

Merry Christmas. So how did i spend my Christmas day you ask? at home...mostly sleeping...I was a bit sick, and felt ill all day...so i left work early & slept the rest of the time. After being waken up for dinner, i took a pill & felt better so, I ended up finishing Fill's mittens...FINALLY! third time's a charm i suppose. It's taken me forever due to the fact that I frogged it so many times. the first mitten was made and then it was too oddily shaped. the second mitten, left hand was made, but it was super huge...so I decided to frog the right hand mitten & make it just as big as the left hand mitten. AND just when i thought i was finished...It turned out, i made TWO left hand, and NO right hand. I had to remake the second left hand, into the right. It's a good thing the only difference is the mitten top, so the mitten top was frogged, and reattached tonight...and now...TADA! we have a fully functional convertible mittens! I hope fill likes it...it at least took 3 days...if i hadn't taken all those days off in between... this project wasn't hard, just there's a lot of directions and lots of counting for me.

Crocheted Mittens/Fingerless Gloves from www.crochetandknitting.com/mitglov2.htm ( i made the women version cuz it's sized smaller.)

as for alterations i made... For the thumb part, I cut out a round in 2 to 7 and only did 7 rounds not 8 rounds.

For the palm part: I only did 3 rounds.

For the mitten part, I didn't do round 13...due to the smaller hands.

Yarn Used: Patons Quick & Chunky Tweeds in the color Biscuit Beige, and used what seems like a 8/0 hook from my cheap SKC hook stash. I used two skeins...one for each mitten with a small amount left over.

It's a quick crochet project if you didn't span it over weeks...less than 6 hours per glove for me is how long i calculated it.

I would consider in making this again in a different yarn...perhaps if I used a thinner yarn, then the glove wouldn't be so large.

EVERYTIME!

i thought i was going to be finally finished with Fill's crochet mittens when... I realised I made two left mittens!!!

and i was so careful at trying to not do that! BUT it happened to me anyway!

I knew exactly where it was that I went wrong. It was when I was attaching the mitten top part... I totally got lost in trying to figure out the exact where it should go and totally forgot to make sure i was putting it on the left side, not right!

and i was so excited that i was finished!!!

well...i guess I shall frog the mitten top and start over. I'm getting pretty good at it...having to frog over and over and over again...

he better wear this mitten ALL THE TIME!!!

P.S. I scooped out my LYS...it's so close...totally within walking distance...if I was allowed to walk outside of these walls!

Cynthia's Leg warmers has been transformed into maryjane slippers & a solid crochet scarf. It's very pink...i hope she likes it. I'd post a picture...but i think i'll wait until she gets it.

I have also ran out of yarn here in China. ONLY 1 more skein that's suppose to be DBF's mittens, which i'm thinking of frogging it and redoing it...If I knew then I wouldn't have taken all that time in weaving in the ends of the first one. ::sigh::

i'm going to use the women's pattern for DBF since his hands are similiar in size to mine...

note to self: do not be afraid of frogging projects, you'll like the results of a project that has been done well better. although it's much eaiser to frog a crochet then a knit...knitting you have to make sure you put the needle back to where it is...as opposed to a crochet where you just rip and rip til it's where you messed up, and you don't have to worry about sticking the other needle back in.

i'm going to try to dicipher that afghan pattern that cyn sent me...

i so need to find an needle so that i don't keep using bobby pins.

what a happy accident!

I finished crochetting the Harry Potter Scarf, which I'm now calling the Helen Scarf due to her demanding a scarf from me.

It's a bit different in texture then i would have liked, but...I suppose it'll do. It's a quick crochet...finished it in like 6-7 hours..way quicker then Aaron's Scarf which i knitted on the plane.

You'd have to excuse the ends...didn't get a chance to weave them in yet...I don't think I have my needle, might have to purchase another one.

This is what it looked like on Wednesday...I barely had an hour on my lunch break to crochet it...and that was all i can do...plus i realised that i was doing the stripes wrong...the second stripe was smaller...thus I decided to interchange the stripes.



And then as I was working my way through the repeats I realised that I was running out of the cranberry color...but had MORE of the pink heather color...so I finished the repeat pattern i was working on, and switched the colors up...





thus getting that weird two scarf in one combo.

towards the end there are more ends to weave in due to me not having enough of the cranberry to complete the full length of the scarf...i didn't want it to be unbalanced. So i scrounged up scraps of the cranberry yarn i had...i was even tempted to cut the weave ends shorter to finish the scarf if i have to...luckily i had enough yarn. ::wipe sweat::

I like how it turned out... i just gotta weave in the ends now.

a barrel of frogs!

I decided last night to frog Cyn's original knitted present...due to the fact that it's so HUGE. The sizing was wrong...and use the yarn for something else. I think I'm going to make a pair of slippers from the yarn that i frogged. It's still pretty yarn with that mohair stuff.

Maybe use the other parts for the calimetory... sounds like a good new plan.

I also made another pair of those slippers out of the same yarn as mine. This time, I made them better.

I also started a Harry Potter scarf out of the Valentine colors...i like how it's going... it's crochet, and i think i discovered that I might have been crochetting wrongly...HM...I don't know. i shall see i suppose.

It's so much faster to crochet, but i only know a couple of different variations... I can knit more stuff. Like i know more knitting techniques.

Okay...so Nemo's scarf is altered a bit. I got tired of working with the pattern heart, and just finished the three repeats & then bind it off, and made the scarf round, like a earwarmer...if Nemo had ears. It's a circular scarf, and it fit just perfectly with the three repeats of the hearts. But the colors are a bit ahead of its time...as in it's Valentine's color...what can i say, My nemo is fashion forward.



The other thing I finished up is the maryjane slippers that took 20 mins for the original poster. It took me an hour each for each slipper. But 3 total because the first one I made was off...the second one fit better...so I had to frog the first one to make it sorta match the second one. I was able to frog it and redo the piece because it was just ONE long piece of string, so I knew there would be enough yarn to remake it...and not have to worry about it cutting short or what not...

i heart her too!

so when i joined sorority I got this pair of knitted socks from my heart sis, Melinda. At the time, I just thought they were socks. Sure they were a bit wide, but warm. Never really gave it too much thought about how much work went into it...until now.

It's a lovely pair of purple, pink & red stripped wool sock with pink hears on top. I didn't really appreciate it, but I kept it because it was handmade by my Heart Sis' Mom. She made it for me, so I kept it.

It's been a couple of years since sorority...infact I didn't even stay that long in it...only one semester, but this pair of socks has been a lasting memory of that time.

I am amazed at how lovely and how great the sock is...thanks Melinda's Mom. You're a great knitter!

I've been spotted!

so last night while i was just hanging out on a leisurely sunday night, our cook/staff maid lady says to me... "you knit?"

I thought my dad had mentioned it to her, but she was like, yeah i was in your room, and i saw that you were knitting with these HUGE needles, and what's that your making? Mittens? Those mittens are very warm for little kids.

anyway, she thought it was funny that me, this little girl was into knitting. I had to say that well i thought it was fun to knit.

she also mentioned that they knit too...or maybe it's crochet.

She wanted me to show her later how to use the Bigger needles...when i'm done with my current projects.

on the making progress note, I am currently working on a heart stripped scarf...it's easy, yet hard at the same time. Harder to follow the pattern, but easy cuz it's an easy pattern... It's my demo scarf using my stashalong yarn.

I am also finished with the one convertible mitten. It's a real quick crochet. I think I'm going to take it on the plane with me...Hopefully I'll remember what's what...maybe i'll print out the directions just for reference, even though I didn't follow the directions at all...

I finished weaving in the ends for ONE mitten...after weaving in the ends...I have decided I am best at working with ONE items, not TWO pairs. Like mitten, & socks & such...although if i'm just working in ONEs...I am totally limited. BUT making sure the two pairs are the same is hard...hm.

Such a quick knit. I thought it was a crochet until my mother pointed it out that it was a knitted item. & after figuring out the chinese way of 2X2 rib & 1X1 rib & regular old garter knit, I was well on my way.

made it in like 3 hours...or probably less than that. I watched a couple of friends episode...

i also crochet a scissor cover...two of them at that...i'd post pictures of them, except i didn't take any. maybe later. I am using up all my yarn...or trying to at least.

I shall make more...I want to make a Nemo coaster.

visited my sorta LYS, it's not as much a yarn store as a craft store. I had thought there would be MORE, but unfortunately not. It's just sorta. The yarn balls are much smaller than as if I had purchased them at Michaels, but sorta the same size as if I went to a more expensive Yarn Store.

There wasn't much selection on books...well there were, but none what i was looking for. I was looking for MORE amigurumi, there was ONE amigurumi, but it was just kinda okay amigurumi...not worth the $10 or so.

The store however had a amigurumi of Hello Kitty. I shoudda asked if they had a pattern...but it was kinda busy so i didn't ask.

I fought the urge to buy yarn..so I'm doing good on my yarn diet. I didn't buy ANYthing from that store... it was hard. I wanted to believe you me...it's very easy for me to spend money. But i spent none.

am blocking for the first time. I blocked Aaron's Scarf because the edges curl in & I don't want it to curl in. We shall see it tomorrow to see if it works.

I also try felting again...this time it actually felted. But I tried it by hand, and am also drying it by naturally letting it dry. I don't think the shape is going to get smaller...do I need to felt it more? I didn't want to use the washing machine, cuz it's on the 4th floor...but I guess if it's bigger, then I will felt it more by machine.

i feel like such an unsuccessful knitter. Everyone's first projects always turn out so well, but mine continuously have flaws in them...like noticeable flaws. I am very bummed.

it seems like the only thing i can make well is scarves...and even then it's still flawed in parts.

After Knitting compulsively, I have at last finished the Windy City Scarf. I made it short...probably shorter than normal. I stopped counting after I had made the hole... & just kinda eyeballed it.

My mother is such a backseat knitter...she kept on saying, it's long enough already! Why don't you taper the ends, you can crochet it, and make it into a point? And after showing it to her, she was like, why is this part so long...uh, I made a mistake...and I can't fix it unless I frog the whole thing...so... i'm just leaving it!!!!!

I am making progress on the Windy City Scarf. I saw something similar on an ebay site in regards to a scarf with the hole, except it was a baby pink one, with a hello kitty on it. I think I'm going to add a little extra at the end too! What, I don't know yet. Maybe a Hello Kitty too!

anyway.

there are all kinds of swaps on the craftster's board... & i want to participate in one, but none of them have really caught my eye yet. Maybe I will pretend to participate them. as in I will try to do the things, but not actually have a partner to swap things with. hehe.

I want to really finish the windy city scarf, and start on a new thing. I want to try a sweater, or the over the knee cable knit leg warmer...oh yeah, & make up a pattern for the convertible mittens without the leather grip.

I have not bought yarn, or anything, but it's easy when i don't have transportation...maybe i should make it that I'm not allowed to buy more yarn til I use up ALL the yarn in my collection... Maybe that would be too drastic!

Made From about 136 yards of Patons Bohemian Hypnotic Haze. The yarn is SUPER BULKY.

I used a Boyle Size US 15

Cast on 8 stitches & Garter Knit the whole thing. Super Easy Super Quick. Only took about two days...on and off. I'd look through forums & then knit a few rows, then look some more then knit a few more rows.

Ready to be mailed for my brother!!

p.s. I have some left over Yarn...I don't know what to use it for..

Here's my ellie pre assembled. I wasn't going to assemble her, but now that I found my needle, I'm going to attempt this wonky see-thruy ellie. We'll just call her an experiment...cuz how else will i learn how to put together the animal.

on the amigurumi front...

so. i've finished the body & head...and now i have to make the legs & arm to complete the amigurumi...the leg & arms are a bit harder to understand.

Maybe this amigurumi that i'm trying to make is intermediate as opposed to easy.

I've frogged the same piece over and over again...and I'm still not sure that it's done correctl...hm. this is the deformed amigurumi's head & body...although it doesn't look like anything unstuffed.

ok, i bought yarn. but i'm going to say that it doesn't count as cheating. because my stash along starts on the 1st and today was the 31. My stash along hadn't started yet...it doesn't count!

but there was a reason that i purchased the yarn, i needed thinner yarn so that i can work on the amigurumis. the crochet needles i got were really thin, and all my yarn are bulky at least 8s, and the pattern called for a 5 yarn, which i didn't have. so i had to get 5 yarn. OKAY, so that's really an excuse because i worked better with the larger yarn & the larger crochet needle...darn it.

okay but that was my only moment of weakness...now that i've gotten all that out of my system, I'm ready to face the stashalong.

I was thinking of making a scarf with the burgendy yarn and incorporating the pink one too. make it super bulky...a quick project and useful for donation purposes. I wanted to do that valentine's donation for the college kids. so... now, i just have to find a pattern of scarf that i like, as opposed to just regular garter stitch or stockingette stitch.

on the amigurumi note...i think i'm coming along great. It's easier to work with the larger yarn & larger needle, but it was helpful that my mother knew how to decipher my crappy english translations into what she knew. I think it's great how crochetting is universal. Like I told her how many stitches it was suppose to be, and she knew immediately how to teach me, and what to do. I didn't know what 2 sc in first st meant, but she knew...

I mean I didn't get very far, i have problems keeping track of my stitches, so i think i'm going to write it out, the directions that is, so that i know each one. instead of round three being *work 2 sc in first st., 1 sc in next st; rep * around - 18 sts. I'm going to write it out like this:
row 3: 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc. or 2sc, 1sc X 6

my mother is very helpful. even though she complains that i spend too much money, she doesn't prevent me too much from doing what i like.

amigurumi here i come

ok, so I didn't buy any yarn, but I did purchase 4 crochet needles. I bought them because I wanted to learn how to make amigurumis. It's my next thing...I'm so getting ahead of myself.

& the needles were really cheap, $3 bucks for 4!! cool eh!

gotta love cheap cost of livings. plus I discovered my LYS.

i learned two new tricks yesterday.

after a whole day and a half, plus my mother of trying to figure out how to use the circular knitting, I finally just sat down and concentrated, and it just clicked. Yay!!


and the I-Cord. Well I started with the I-cord because it seemed easy, so that gave me the confidence to work on the circular needles.

I can now knit circularlly! yay! socks and beanies and mittens here i come!

this thin scarf is made from two yarns joined into one, i made it thicker than the one lone yarn. I made it super long only because I was using up the rest of the green yarn. the green is super bright neon, and the red has specks mixed in the yarn. I really enjoy making these scarves because a. it's easy, and b. it's super fast to make.

takes only about 2 hours to finish this scarf...easy projects and such satisfaction when you are done!!!

now only if other people think it's just as cool as i think it is!

I am working on a Windy City Scarf from the SnB The knitter's Handbook by Debbier Stoller, it's actually a lot easier than I thought it would be...so far. Plus all the switching back and forth of the 1x1 rib makes it less monotonous than if it was just a regular stockingnett stit.

The dilemma I have is, I'm not sure which of these colors I should combine with it...the four choices. from left top down then to the right. *Sparkly white, ( White/Multi); *Melange Pink ( Blush Heather), **Pink with extra strands coming out it (pink), & *a pumpkin color (Gold) the parenthesis is their official name!

My original scarf color is Plymouth Yarn Encore Knitting Worsted Weight col 180. it's like a berry pink.

knitting around town

I've been knitting around town lately...well mostly in the car while I'm traveling since I don't drive much around taiwan. Other places I've been knitting at? At my work...not my real work, but the work where I go and hog the computer the whole time I'm there.

My current project? I'm working on a Ridged Eyelet Border thin Scarf with the silk yarn I got from Black Sheep Knittery.

I had tried to make another wrist warmer with it, but I casted on too many stitches, so it was too big. I was then going to wear it as a around the house sock, but it seemed too short for just the ankle...and well it was kinda weird. (as seen below.)



I don't like to dress up around the house, just incase someone drops by...cuz no one ever drops by to see me... so I frogged it, and tried the thin scarf.

so...that's my current project...

oh what to do next??

i am now waiting for the rest of my yarn from the US, so that I may continue working on esther's xmas present... this is my second try. sigh.

so while i'm waiting on that, i'm going to try a lattice stitch pattern on a fingerless glove with the Debbie Bliss alpaca silk that I got from Black Sheep Knittery.

well here i am in taiwan...knitting & sorts. Met up with my aunt yesterday, she gave me the cutest owl dangleys. I think I'm going to see if she would like to sell it. It's super cute.

I knitted Aaron's scarf on the plane, and I'm pretty much done...I'm just working on more length and then finishing it off. I think he would like it...i don't know if it's too big though, since he's a little kid, it might overwhelm him. Hmmm...

It's bad luck (for the intended recipient) if you leave a project unfinished.

Stabbing your needles though your yarn balls brings bad luck to anyone who wears something made from that yarn.

Don't knit a pair of socks for your boyfriend or he'll walk away from you.

If you knit one of your own hairs into a garment, it will bind the recipient to you.

Knitting for children you may have in the future, but before you are pregnant, is bad luck (it may prevent you from getting pregnant, or bring ill health to the baby.

this new hand knitting technique is supremely easy. It takes only about two days...like 4 hours or so to finish a scarf. I completed another one today...in that cami color...the forest colors. Nemo's wearing it right now.

But then I thought I'd use this technique on the scarf I'm making for my brother. With a thick yarn, it actually looks wider, and more solid looking...less ropey. It's interesting how the same technique looks different on different yarn.

I might make a thin one like this on the plane...i should take a couple of projects on the plane.

went to a Japanese store, hoping to pick up a amigurmi book, but instead found this knitting book that teaches you to make things with your hand strickly. Strickly on your hands, no needles, or hooks or whatever. Interesting you say? Of course! I contemplated purchasing it in Japan...but then I thought, perhaps when/if I arrive in Japan, I won't be able to find the same book, so I just bit the bullet, and purchased it.

finally went to let's knit yarn shop in gardena. It is run by an old lady. She immediately asked me if she could help me, to which I meekly replied that I wanted to just look around.

She had the stacks of knitting magazines right at the door, and that's where I stopped. She had all the old copies of knit.1. I looked at all of them, and decided on the spring one from 06 was the best, it had a project in there that i wanted to make for friends for christmas. So fyi...all my friends are getting knitted gifts. Yay knits!

So of course with this new information, I had to run to the yarn store and pick up appropriate yarn...they did't have the colors or the yarn, but I substitued the yarn type. worsted for lion wool. same gague, it's all OK.

i'm so excited about this new project. AND i know i can finish it before i leave...or at least one of them before i leave.

so look out yarn, here i come!

Borders had a buy three get one free...so I picked up stitch n bitch nation, a knitting bible and got the crochet bible for free!

as it turns out, I did not like how Isaac's scarf turned out...I shall have to tear it apart, and redo it.

i do have the rest of my life to knit, but i seem to have a forever unfinished line of knitting projects in my head. I suppose one at a time...and not to get over whelmed.

no more pattern books for me...

although, not your mama's knitting book had some good patterns that i'd like to file away... hm perhaps to hit up the libaray.

I got a pom pom maker made simple yesterday...these were the best ones that turned out so far...I should make more pom poms.

the forest color one is suppose to be bigger then the blue one...but it doesn't look it does it??

I just finished the gray & grayer scarf. It's even got tassels...it looks good from afar...but look at my first LONG project...



Materials: Choose two colors of your liking. & I used Size 8.0mm needles. Also Set aside a couple of yards if tassels desired.

Directions:
*CO 30 sts.
*With (A) K 26 rows ( garter )
*With (B) K 26 rows ( garter )
*K til desired length. (Mine is 13 blocks with A & B interchanged.)
*BO
*Add Tassel if desired.

Hm...these directions are a little vague...but you get the point right??

and now look at how Nemo's enjoying the scarf...he looks like one of those older Jewish ladies. hehe.

i am a knitting girl. I am on my third project...a scarf for fill. It's gray & grayer. It looks to be a good male scarf. I hope to finish it soon, so that I may start on a new scarf for other people and try out new patterns. I'm making fill's scarf in a striped garter stitch...simple, but time consuming at the same time.

I knit in half an hour incriments...after the half hour, I have to be really focused to knit further. Usually I take a break, and look at patterns.

I am thinking of making scarves for everyone...

10 reasons to knit a scarf:

1. everybody needs one.
2. scarves are varied in technical difficulty.
3. a scarf is always a welcome gift.
4. there is comfort knitting, mindless rows is good for those days when anything more complex would make you cry.
5. how could a scarf not fit??
6. you can always use one more scarf.
7. keeps all your heat from escaping from your body.
8. scarves are easy.
9. you can rob a bank with it!!!
10. lastly...because your friend will have a piece of you with them all the time.

the coin purse was the first project I completed...it was relatively easy looking back. I have yet to try harder things...that is the harder things with the instructions...I don't understand them, so I can't carry them out.



I found the fingerless glove pattern online...It was SO simple to make. I'm going to make another set today...in a different color I suppose.

i bought a new book teaching me how to knit. So far, I'm doing the garter knit...but the purling..i'm not getting it quite right. the purling sorta just makes it look like the garter knit to me.

AND i don't know how to close the knits...might be a problem for when i actually get the hang of things.

well...maybe i need to ask for help now??

note: my arms are tired from knitting for like 3 hours.

toggle earrings too

this lovely pair of earrings, is made up of sterling silver parts and glass beads and swarvoski crystals. It's mostly pink, with the sterling silver as accents. There is two surprising elements, the heart shaped chain, and the toggle parts. The heart chain serves as an accent to the plain toggle center piece.

Made these toggle earrings today...only one side...but i think it's a bit heavy. I might switch the big ones out with the smaller pearls. that might make it less heavy...and get sterling silver links instead of the steel color ones, cuz then this way the earrings look uniform. maybe a trip to the bead store is in order.

uploaded the picture. made the other side. After looking at it, I think I'm defintely going to get the sterling silver links, the regular silver ones just isn't cutting it for me. and the smaller pearls are defintely less heavy, and it's so cute...who wouldn't want it?!

i have more variations that i want to make of these...

on another note i started making rings. I bought this wire wrapping book, and learning how to manipulate wires. It's so satisfying at the end of it. It's a whole another technique that i can incorporate into my current repretoire of work. so i purchased a bunch of charms last time i stormed my local bead store...and well honestly making bracelets out of all of them seemed...tiring. SO on some brilliant idea last night...well rather an extenstion of e's idea, I just attached them to my already made stretchy bracelets, and they all look pretty cute too!! i will be putting the pictures on dropshots/itscute and going about listing each one when i'm supremely bored.

so until the next brilliant idea hits me...
